The customer wanted to achieve an updated look to their home that incorporates visual interest through detail of cabinets and movement in the granite as well as maintain the general layout with a cleaner aesthetic and smart storage options.
Although the home is large, the size of the kitchen is not. Additional design aspects were used to maximize storage and space throughout the kitchen such as a Hafele Magic Corners used in lieu of Lazy Susan’s at the corners of the kitchen, moving the double ovens out of the corner to create more useable storage and replacing with a 48” Wolf range, appliance garage to hide small coffee maker and toaster, pullouts on either side of the range for spice storage and additional pullouts left of the sink for towel storage and trash storage.
While not a traditional sitting area in the kitchen, our customers have two large chairs in front of the kitchen fireplace and a TV area in the corner. This area was designed to incorporate a clean, organized look. With the idea to be able to hide the TV and books when not being used. The fireplace was refinished to have a face that ties in with the rest of the kitchen and the new desk area within the kitchen was designed to incorporate a cleaner aesthetic with a larger vanity top and more storage.
Finally, the dining area incorporates two warming drawers which will keep food warm since the dining room is a good distance from the kitchen and the homeowner worries about elderly guests navigating the stairs with a plate of food – this area becomes a serving station. And a new dry bar in the living room allows the host a place to serve beverages without being in the middle of the activity in the kitchen.
